Rwanda Expérience #8

Performed reading of Les Fumées, Natacha Nisic

The performance consists of retelling the entire trial of Tito Baharira and Octavien Ngenzi in a three-voice reading, with the successive roles of the judge, the executioners, and the witnesses. On stage, for 45 minutes, supported by drawings of the trial, the intensity of the debates brings out the violence contained in the words, between denial and contradictory testimonies, in search of the truth.

“Ejo” means “yesterday and tomorrow” in Kinyarwanda. “Rwanda, Ejo” celebrates artists and stories that draw on memories to transform the present and invent the future. This Chaillot Experience is part of a cooperation with Rwanda initiated in May 2022 in close collaboration with Dorothée Munyaneza, a Franco-Rwandan artist associated with Chaillot since 2021, and with the Institut Français in Kigali.
